Dog Pound Pals – and new info

Okay – I’m going to try to respond to all the emails I’ve been getting regarding the announcement of this project here.  Again, I don’t have every detail figured out– questions re what the final quilt setting will look like, what size will the final project be — I can’t answer those at this point because I haven’t drawn the quilt layout, borders etc.  But here are answers to some of the other questions — If I forgot one you asked, just leave a comment because others may be interested in the answer to and that will at least keep them all on this page.

 

So  first and foremost – all the prior blog posts about this project are linked together for the time being under the button in the sidebar — you can see the specific posts listed there.  If you’re thinking about joining in this project, you may want to check out the additional blog posts there but I will try to cover everything again here.

• When will the project start.    In 2014, sometime in February, but the exact start date will be determined later.
• Do you need to buy the entire Dog Pound Pal block collection or can you use other blocks?   Yes, you absolutely need to buy the block collection (it wouldn’t be a Dog Pound Pal Adoption Society project otherwise, right?)
• Where do you buy the pattern:   www.myeqboutique.com  You can click on the “designers” tab, find me (Denise Russart) click on me and it will take you to my patterns.
• Due to the website being down, the sale has been extended at EQ Boutique until Monday, Sept. 30.  if you wish to take advantage of it.  I told you those EQ Boutique guys and gals are great!  Sales  generally do happen on a fairly regular basis  – I always post a note on the blog about them – so if you’re undecided about joining, chances are you could hit another sale before the end of the year.
• You MUST have a windows based computer.  Eqboutique files will not run on Macs.
• If you have a Mac, can I email you the patterns?   No, sorry Mac users — but in order to play in this project you must be able to download the block collection.
• Can you buy the pattern from me?  No – I only sell patterns through EQ Boutique.
• Can you buy the pattern and your whole quilt guild, sewing circle, couple of girl friends join you in this project?    Absolutely NOT!  This is a pattern I am selling, not giving away.  I give away lots of free projects and if each person who wants to make the project doesn’t want to buy the block collection, then they should simply bypass this project and not participate — I don’t think I’m being unreasonable here.  It’s just like purchasing a block of the month project somewhere else – you need to buy your own copy of the pattern (but here you might win some goodies, get additional blocks, and who knows what else I might come up with)   Buying a pattern/block collection through EQ Boutique is like buying a pattern in the store.  It is covered by copyright and each person joining in this project must buy their own copy of the block collection since they are for the purchasers individual use only.
• How does EQ Boutique work – what do I get if I order the collection?  That is all explained on the EQ Boutique website way more clearly than I could explain – you can see demos of exactly how it works and if you haven’t tried it before – get one (or more) of the free block collections so you can see things first hand.   So please check it out before you decide if you want to order.
• If I don’t make the dog blocks, can I still get the quilt layout?    No, the quilt layout, any additional dog blocks I may make available, goodies and prizes are only for those who purchase the block collection to participate in the quilt along.
• By when do I have to purchase the pattern?  By January.  (Perhaps you can leave a note for Santa about it) 🙂
• In January I will do a blog post asking those who are participating to email me privately.  That’s when I will be  when I will be setting up the pages for this project.  I will then send you a return email asking for a certain specific piece of information that is contained in the Dog Pound Pals block collection download as verification that you have purchased the collection.  Once I get your response, you will then be given a password that will let you access a password protected area of my blog set up just for the DPPAS quilt along.
• Can I join in the project at any time?  No — there will be a deadline in January by which you have to email me your response to verify you have the block collection.  After that deadline, no one else will be able to join in.  It takes some time to get things set up doing it this way, so I don’t want to forever have to be emailing passwords, etc. 

 

WHEW …. I think I answered all the questions I got – if not, just give a shout and check the comments section for the replies to your questions.  I’m going to link this page to the DPPAS list in the sidebar so you can find it there also.

Now… I was busy looking at goodies  that I might have to get for some giveaways for this project.  I loved the mousepads I had done this year but have to go looking to see what I can find for next year.   As a gift for myself, I think I may have to have a coffee mug made with the DPPAS logo on it — I think it would be just too cute.
