Nightengale’s Garden – August Camp project finished

This was such a simple and quick to stitch project  – of course it’s not very large.  I think it will go in a 5″ x 12″ frame.   I started the stitching on August 1 and finished the cross stitch on August 2 – see I said it was quick.  It’s on 14 count aida stitched with 2 strands of floss.

I ordered the felt from CountryStitchesOnline.com.  I knew I wanted a green house with the dark blue windows and room but you never know when ordered things on a computer screen if it’s really showing up a true color.  I also ordered a really pretty red piece.    I like to live dangerously and decided to start the stitching before the wool arrived.  I picked a green floss I liked and hoped the green wool wouldn’t clash too bad with it.

The wool arrived in today’s mail and as you can see it could not have been more of a perfect match and I got that house appliqued right away.

This is a small project – it will likely fit in a 5 x 12″ frame with room around it to spare.   The door is 3/8″ x 5/8″ so I definitely only needed tiny pieces of wool but I had to order it in 1/4 yard pieces so I have plenty to use for the backs of smalls and to make some needle books.  A cart for a most beautiful needle book happened to accompany the wool so I can’t wait to start on that.

In the meantime, I’m working along on In HIS Image and decided I don’t really love the shades of red DMC called for – or maybe it’s too much red.  I don’t know but I’m working on that house in the lower right.

I think I’m going to change the color of that house from red to something else.  My fabric is a light blue so maybe a pretty blue house. or I’m also partial to green or gold.  Who knows – don’t have to make the decision quite yet.  I’m working on outlining windows and getting roofs on and only had two small rows of the red in that I will need to rip out.
