Audra Released

The Audra shawl pattern I was one of the test knitters for designed by Ambah has now been released and is on sale until the end of the month  which is coming up right soon!  The pattern is very easy – even the lace – and if made using the yarns called for, is garter stripes alternating mohair and sock yarn which makes for such a lovely, light and airy wrap and then the lace sections.  I used Hedgehog yarns, both sock weight and kidsilk haze that were dyed the same color so my stripes are not obvious in the garter section unless you are looking at it in person and then you can see the mohair versus the other yarn.   If you look at the other testers’ projects in Ravelry you can see examples where the stripes are more pronounced – I love both looks and  I do love the Hedgehog yarns that are dyed to match.   Ambah’s designs are fun to knit and very well written.  I highly recommend this one.

And that shawl pin –  which I have been coveting for quite a while and then a gift card came along so I finally decided to buy it – that is Ambah’s logo for her knit designs.  It is a gorgeous shawl pin which I know I will wear a lot.

A bit of fabric

I love nearly every fabric in every Charley Harper line of fabrics.  His illustrations, especially of birds, are my favorites.    So when I came across these I decided I needed a little bit of them.

I do especially love the swallow print with the dots.  I’ve used that in a couple different colorways but I’d never seen this one – it’s a very light blue background – not as gray as it looks in my photo).   And I couldn’t resist the panel which will likely get cut apart and sewn back together into some sort of wallhanging.

20180428_5  The color palette and simplicity of the birds just call to me.

And then The Loopy Ewe got in a new dinosaur fabric line and I don’t know what it is about it – the colors or the prints – but it was just so darn cute.

It will likely go in a gifting pile or I may sell it but I really wanted to make something with the Rex line.  You can see the rest of the fabrics (the ones I didn’t get because I really didn’t buy every print/color) here at The Loopy Ewe.  Ordered Friday and will arrive Monday – I love their customer service  (and rewards program, and yarns and camp loopy, and the way they package their items that are shipped in plastic in side the box/envelope so even if it’s pouring rain and he mailman leaves the package outside my door, what’s inside won’t get ruined.

ANYWAY –   I was playing in EQ8 for a bit today – I know I want a simple quilt so I just picked some simple blocks to start with . Don’t know that this will be the finished design I use – I usually go back and make changes several times but here’s one idea for those Rex fabrics.

(oh and check out the middle fabric on left column above – I love that it looks like a squiggly lacy print but it is actually dinosaurs.  Hopefully the Kona solids on the right will play nicely with the prints.

Now to get some things done around here.   But I’ll be back  — in addition to  “a bit of fabric,” there might have been “a bit of yarn” – very unusual yarn direct from Sweden – that arrived this week.
