Knitting Notes – 2-18-18

More finishes this week and more yarn arrivals.

The red Cascade Superwash 220 in Red Wine Heather to make a Childhood Wishes lap blanket.  I cast it on earlier this week but I’m just finishing the seed stitch border so it doesn’t look like much yet.

The other yarn is all the same color way – Film Noir – but on different bases.  I so love this colorway.  I have a cowl in a chunky/bulky yarn in this color.  On the left is one fingering weight and next to it the fuzy one is Kid Silk Lace (mohair/silk blend)  I want to use those together in a project.   The rest are all merino lace and I plan to hold it doubled to make a sweater I think.  I need to do some swatching to decide what sort of sweater I want to make.  But first need to finish off a few more projects.

I did finish all these last night – seaming and final knitting on a couple.

Fingering weight  with a few beads in the lace cuff in Smooshy with Cashmere – colorway is Carousel (which is discontinued).

Easy Fingerless Mitts in Malabrigo Rios Deep Sea Dash.

The pattern used below is Cozy Fingerless Gloves

Malabrigo Rios in Liquid Ambar.

Dream in Color Classy – Peaceful Transititons (another discontinued colorway)

About a third of the second mitt left to knit.   Malabrigo Worsted in Geranio.

Thursday night I also cast on this Mistake-Rib Scarf.   I’m using one of the prize yarns I got last year in the yarnathon for reaching Float Falls called Molasses Swamp Monster – BMFA Targhee Worsted – and I wasn’t real thilled with the colorway but I think it is knitting up very nice in this scarf. I’m holding the worsted doubled to get a bulky weight for the scarf.

Super easy beginner friendly scarf.  I got about another foot knit on it last night.

Especially quick knit with heavy yarn but any weight yarn could be used.

I’ve been tidying yarn and projects and project baskets this weekend.  Planning my next couple of projects that need to get finished.  Next weekend, I think I head into the sewing room to do some tidying there and perhaps actually set started on the wool bag I want to sew and finish some quilting on a project that has been languishing.
