36 completed projects

I hadn’t updated my Tangled Strings page lately — the button in the right sidebar where all my knitting finishes are shown.  Added the last four projects finished and I have now completed 36 different knit and/or woven projects.   You can see photos of them all in one place on that page.

So that’s at least 20, 038 yards of yarn I have used.   That’s over 11 miles of yarn.   You can have so much fun (and great cozy things to wear and to give away) with just a bit of pretty strings. :-)

Sock wearing weather is nearly here – I think I might have to see if I have any on the needles to finish off or yes, more likely, get some new ones on the needles.  You can never have too many pairs of hand knit socks!   And is Socktoberfest Time

Sunday Stitches Synopsis – 10-8-17

I have been busy on many things this week/weekend.  I finished my test knit of Brookhill, a lovely garter with lace insert shawl and got that off the blocking mats this morning.  It’s a Fogbound Knits (Laura Aylor) pattern – not released yet but I’ll let you know when it is.

I’ve also been working on a quarterly KAL project – a toddler sized vest pattern called Little Clayton (Ravelry).   This is a quick knit – after last night’s Brit Box bingwatching (try saying that three times fast) and knitting session I’m about half done.

I seem to be into “blues” – seems like my projects sort of go in cycles where I have several things in various shades of the same colors I’m working on.   The yarn is Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok (100% Fine Highland Wood) in the color Thermal Spring.   I was leery Woolstok might feel too wooly (scratchy) but reviews by people who had used it said otherwise so I decided to try it and I do like it.  I don’t consider it scratchy but it does have a springy wooly feel with great stitch definition and I think will get even softer once blocked.

Yes – more blues – but a whole lot of other colors in those mini skeins too.  This is the group I got to make True ColorsTrue Colors.    The grouping of background color (large hank) and some of the minis (left to right thru darkest blue) are a Miss Babs grouping called Oriental Rug.  I picked out the two purples and dark gray to get to the 10 colors I needed.    I may replace that one blue that looks too similar to the background color – I think I can steal a color from another color group I have of Miss Babs.

On the left some Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails (50 yard hanks) for a colorwork project and on the right an ESK exclusive colorway The Fox in Madtosh ASAP (extra bulky) to make another Fogbound Knits pattern  for Laura’s 2017 Cowl KAL going on right now.  I plan to make Greyfel for me.  Should be a very quick knit in this this yarn.

And in keeping with that orangey yarn, I was sewing on an orangey project this weekend.  These fabrics have been cut and sewn…..

and I have the background pieced for That Cat Halloween Quilt which I posted a link to in the previous post.

Today I plan to get the next  order on and get the cat appliqued. Instead of a black cat I think mine will be a dark purple one.

I also finished off another Fogbound Knits patterns (yes I love her cowl and shawl pattern designs immensely) – my 2nd Touchstone in Broody Bantam yarn – which I will get on the blocking mats today I hope and have it to show in a day or two once it tries.

So that’s the weekend round up of all my various stitching.
