Feather and Fan Short Scarf

Thanks for all the lovely comments about my wrap.     I also got many emails along the lines of “wish I could knit that” “such a difficult pattern” and asking how long I’d been knitting before I was able to do such lacey designs.

I’ve always been one to try new things, take them step by step, and not decide by looking at something that I can’t do it if I really want to.   This pattern is definitely not difficult. The pattern for this wrap is a free one on Ravelry.  It’s the Feather and Fan Short Scarf by Kelly Faller.

If you can (1) knit, (2) knit two together, (3) yarn over, (4) purl–which I consider the basics of knitting (if you know how to do those things you can make so many things)–then you can  make this scarf (and make it any length you want).  It is such an easy knit with a four row repeat and 3 of those 4 rows are either all knit or all purl.   So only one row  with an easy to remember pattern stitch of YOs and K2Tog.

Looks can be deceiving and this is such a beginner friendly project if you have mastered the knitting basics.  You shouldn’t be afraid to give it a go.

  1. Going to go get the pattern, you just talked me into giving this one a try. Lovely scarf and in my colors too.
