Today it was out to breakfast with a friend and then we visited some of our favorite holiday season shopping places. There’s a few flurries falling – not much – so it seemed like the holiday season may be approaching.
First stop – Clausen’s Bakery – to taste test the chocolates, cookies (it’s best to go AFTER breakfast so the taste testing is held at a minimum). But one foot in the door and it smells so wonderful. I bypassed all the yummy cookies I love (mostly the butter cookies with dark and/or light chocolate on them) I’ll wait for the after Christmas sale and maybe get some then. I did walk out with a lovely looking cranberry walnut sourdough bread. And that package of rolls – each one with different seeds, cheese in them, etc. I actually love their breads and rolls better than the chocolates and bakery BUT…. there may be a bakery bag containing a pastry or two or….can you say Morning Bun — I told my Mom I’d be at the bakery today and her first words were Morning Bun. They are a delicious treat so I may have to take a photo of it to send to her – would that be mean??? 🙂
Next it was on to Boston Store – we always have to stop and look at their ornaments and housewares and I was looking for some flannel sheets. They were a door buster (which I didn’t know until getting there) so a good sale but the selection pretty much picked over. I did get a set of red with white snowflakes. Red and white would not be my first color choice but they will be headed into the washer with some vinegar or Retayne or something to see how set that red color really is or if I’ll have red sheets with pink snowflakes.
I broke my tree topper (along with one other ornament this morning while adding more ornaments to the tree) so found something to work that will go well with all the European style glass ornaments on my tree.
Very old fashioned looking – but it will go great.
My friend loved the shawl collared cowl – and the button — which has a dog in the center that looks just like her dogs — and then she handed me my present saying “I don’t knit … or do anything.” LOL No, she’s not a knitter or sewist, etc., but she knows where to go to find the good stuff. There’s a pottery shop in Northern Wisconsin in the town where she has a cabin just outside of – she knows I like that potter’s stuff so she got me this lovely coffee mug — and it’s a supersized one – not one of those little ones you have to keep filling and filling. And she even braved the Mall (we both hate mall shopping) to get the Gloria Jeans coffee I love along with another flavor I’m anxious to try. Yummmm (coffee and bakery treats – must be time for an afternoon snack right?)
I did buy something to go in the one gift I need to mail out on Monday – which had to come from the LQS — I know, you’re thinking how sad that Denise had to make a stop at the quilt shop. LOL Well I sacrificed, and I might have got a goodie or two for me from there too.
But time to decide what I want to do for the rest of this afternoon. I have one more of those paper pieced 3″ blocks to make and get framed before Monday but I think I’ll save that till tomorrow. Not in the mood for sewing 40 little scraps of fabric.
I did get this in the mail yesterday
The fabrics I ordered from the TLE for the Moda Piece and Comfort Challenge. Only thing is I realized I forgot to order one piece that I need – a second blue so need to order that and I think this will be my first after Christmas project to work on. Plus the box contained another hank of yarn for my Featherweight sweater – I was concerned I might run out since I did a bit of changing of things on the sweater which would account for more yardage.
So enough rambling – things to do….
