Greta Vest Finished

Ends are buried and it’s done.  I have a feeling this yarn may grow in length while wearing it  which would be rather annoying but will have to wait and see what happens.  If it does, then it will just be relegated to be worn at home because it is definitely warm and cosy.  Now finally after an entire day of planning to sit and knit – it’s 9: 15 p.m. and I am actually going to go knit for a couple hours.  The weekend has gotten away from me – it’s back to work tomorrow but I just remembered I’ll be minus one boss this week so may I’ll get the piles of paper on my desk sorted and dealt with — just maybe!

Loopy Ewe Fabric Challenge

I was off a chair and uncovered my Loopy Ewe Fabric Challenge project which needs to be finished by the end of this month.  So – forget the cleaning I was going to do – off to the grab batting out of the closet.

20140216_7 It’s now all quilted and the binding is stitched so I just need to hand stitch down the back of the binding sometime this week so I can call it finished.

Now I could fold laundry while I wait for my baked potatoe to bake enough that I can start the rest of dinner ….. or I could go knit on my sweater which I haven’t touched since Friday night…… oh wait – weaving vest ends that was what I need to get to next – forget about folding towels – they will keep.

Stocking caps

Sometimes I just have to laugh at the goofy things I do.  I cut out the pattern pieces for one of the stocking cap blocks for From Head to Toe – pick the fabrics or one block, started to pin the main hat sections down and duh — I forgot to reverse the hats properly – didn’t even think about the fact that one of them is the reverse of the others.   Easily fixed tho since I didn’t want to waste the three pieces I cut out — one block will have the hats spinning one way and the other will be reversed.

20140216_1 So I pulled out my “snowy” batik background and pulled out the layer cake of bright batiks Hoffman Fabrics had sent me.    Here’s one hat – I cut an extra little curve or two in one section of my hat to make it a bit different and I made the pom pom just a bit smaller to take advantage of a batik with circular designs printed on it.

Here’s the other block  pinned so far.

20140216_5I also got my remaining February DPPAS block cut out so I can put all the fabrics I pulled out away and get rid of that mess do the rest of my cleaning and then I can gather the threads I need to applique these and get started.

Saturday Summing Up

Dang! I never did get to any knitting on my sweater yesterday.  I did, tho, per my plan get my Greta vest blocked

20140216_13I was a bit worried because it was so heavy when I unwrapped it from the towels that it wanted to stretch ever which way but after much patient patting into place and rearranging, a day with two fans blowing on it all day (it’s a heavier yarn so it really took a while to dry), I slid the blocking boards off my bed to the floor last night and this morning it’s finally dry.  With fingers crossed I tried it on and I like it!  It’s nice and long like I wanted; it will definitely be warm.  So today’s job – get the ends all buried and then see if there’s anything in the closet to wear it with. 🙂

There was some laundry done, I printed patterns for the dog block I want to work on and for the stocking hat blocks and taped those together, pulled a few potential fabrics for them, did a bit of computer stuff, and then spent the majority of the day watching old movies and working on an applique block that I need to get off in the mail.

As for today – I have various messes to clean up and put away – clutter abounds, I want to get the dog and hat blocks cut out and ready to stitch.  And maybe do a bit of cooking for some meals for later in the week.  Can I eat dinner now tho? Tonight steak, baked potato and fresh asparagus – my most favorite meal combination (the asparagus which has been $3.99 – $4.99 lb all winter was on sale finally!  As much as I love it, there’s no way I’d pay those high prices for it so I’m a happy camper now with several bunches in the fridge).

Okay first some breakfast or brunch or something and then a bit of cleaning, a bit of playing with fabric and a bit of knitting – sounds like a good plan for the day.
