Camp Loopy Countdown

Yes – I just realized – it’s May 31.  Camp Loopy starts June 1 – I can cast on my Kinta at midnight! LOL  And I probably will.  I can get several hours of good knitting in  — who needs sleep!

3-spacecadet My Space Cadet yarn  is at the ready, the Kinta pattern is printed, I found the right size needles in the stash so I’ll be ready to go.

Now, shall we place bets as to what friend Judy decides to cast on??

Socks, the 3S Shawl, or I think she may also have been contemplating Kinta.

Perhaps we’ll find out tomorrow unless she’s one of those sane people who actually sleeps at night. 😉

A Box of Fun

and a bag of disappointment.   That’s what I received this week.

My Box of Fun was of course from the Loopy Ewe! 🙂

lopyYes – my official Camp Loopy T-shirt arrived, along with a mini Loopy, the mascot of the Mt. Loopius camping group, which I am a part of.  I did have to wrestle the bag of tootsie rolls from him — it was not pretty — he’s sitting in a basket of yarn right now thinking about how selfish he was.

The yarn — would you believe Loopy hid it in my box? No? Okay I may have added it to my cart myself.    The one on the left my flash washed out – it’s even lovelier and a bit darker –  a  dark bright aqua and green, Dragonfly Fibers, Djinni Sock, Galapagos – it has some cashmere in it.   The one on the right – I so love the colors in that one -Dragonfly Fibers, Dragon Sock, in Admiral Benbow – 100% superwash.   Their yarn never disappoints.  The color I see on my computer monitor is the color I get.

My baggie of disappointment was this yarn.

muckIt was NOT ordered from the Loopy Ewe.  I wanted something that had long color repeats for a specific project and had seen several of those projects made with this brand which I had never heard of .  I know not all monitors show images the same but on both computers I looked from, this yarn on the website looked yellow, gold, orange and the aqua color was much brighter and darker along with a dark chocolate brown.    The colors together reminded me of a sunrise or sunset.  That is not what the yarn in this picture looks like and my picture is true to what I received.  But, it’s yarn – it’s not worth sending back — it will be fine for some other project it was just disappointing that it was so far off from the website image when I had just the project I wanted it for and it would have looked great.   I don’t have time to start that other project with the long color changes right now anyway so my search for the perfect long color change yarn will continue.

Judy’s Pooling Sock Yarn Challenge – My results

At this post – you can see the yarn I picked for the pooling challenge – the official “calendar girl” photos to show they were not started until March.

The top ones in that post – pinky/orange blue — those are the ones that I had set aside after finishing the first sock and I STILL have not found the remainder of the ball of yarn.  I think I put it away in one of the “leftovers” containers thinking it was from something else.  I need to search for it but they are not finished for the challenge.

The bottom photo – the pink and brown — those aren’t done either.  I really like the yarn but it’s not really pooling.  But then here was this one:

ab6It’s  Fibercharmer Valhalla and the color is Mood Ring.  This one gave me some very unique pooling.

front The following photos show them looking straight on down the front of the sock, left sides and right sides.    I used the Tesserae sock pattern.  The toes are not the result of any pooling — I have big feet – I needed add’l yarn so grabbed some brown from the stash to finish the toes to make sure I wouldn’t run out.

These turned out weird and I love them!  They remind me of maps of sandy shores, green tree covered islands, and water all around.

Thanks Judy for the fun challenge.

1sideother side  Even tho all of my yarns I chose didn’t pool, it was fun trying to decide if they would or not.

Course now I have more socks in my “need to be finished pile” but first I need to find that missing ball of yarn so I can finish that second sock.

And be sure to go see all the other pooling socks on Judy’s blog.
