I’ve stitched up more of the ladybug quilt blocks. They are just put up on their design wall temporarily – and are probably not in their final locations. I took out the dark green one I had made – the green was too near the black to show up properly so I may still go look for another green to mix in with these.
Now what I’d really like is to add a ladybug fabric border to this so I just might have to order more of that fabric.
But enough sewing for today. I’ve got a few chores to finish and figure out what’s for dinner. Then I think I’ll go back to knitting. It’s a gray day (yet again) drizzly. A good evening to snuggle in and knit and then tomorrow, back to the working world for me.
UPDATED 6/1/13 — NAME SUGGESTIONS FOR THE QUILT BELOW ARE CLOSED. IF YOU WISH TO VOTE ON THE FINAL NAME, GO TO THE POST OF 6/1/13 WHERE THE VOTING POLL IS LOCATED.
Yes I still have a couple mouse pads left so we’ll have another “Name that Quilt Giveaway”. This giveaway will be open only to those in the U.S. I apologize to those out of the country but it would cost more to mail the mouse pad than it is actually worth, along with requiring a special trip to the post office – a place it is not convenient for me to get to.
I just updated the Stitchin With Justquiltin page (button in sidebar) with the July project — it will be a variation of the Cobbled Path quilt I’ve been stitching. It will be a great scrap buster because you could use only the number of fabrics shown in the quilt or you could make it even more scrappy.
So in order to qualify to be included in the giveaway, here’s the rules:
1) Live in the U.S.
2) Leave a comment on this page only with your name suggestion for this quilt.
3) Leave ONE and only ONE comment with ONE and only ONE name suggestion per person.
Whenever I do one of these giveaway half the people are disqualified for not following the rules which are always so simple. Remember — one comment, one name suggestion. I’ll pick a winner sometime later in the week.
So if batiks aren’t your thing – dig into that scrap pile or stash and find a combination that works for you. What about a red, white and blue or 30’s prints? A print or focus fabric could be used in place of the white background and then colors for the 4 patch blocks drawn from that fabric.
In just a few days we’ll be at the half way point of the year for the Stitchin with Justquiltin projects as well as the Strictly for the Birds projects — June is nearly here which means each group only has 3 projects left. I have projects in mind for some of the months that are left but not all of them. If there’s an EQ project I posted images of to the blog in the past you would like to see fill one of those months, feel free to leave a comment suggesting it. I make no promises but will take them under advisement. Some projects have been offered elsewhere so I can’t put them on the blog and some I’m still waiting to hear on, but feel free to let me know if there is a past image you’d like to see a pattern for in the future.
Here’s what’s up on the design walls today —
On the big design wall — Cobbled Path and the Lady Bug quilt.
Cobbled Path – all the blocks are done and now I need to sew all those rows.
Lady bug – I’ve got more blocks to make but just maybe I’ll get those done today.
Notice how I carefully arranged that pile of fabric on the end of the table so the colors coordinated with the lime green lamp. LOL Someone needs to put those fabrics away.
On the smaller design wall , the orphan block I quilted yesterday –just needs the binding hand stitched to the back.
I also made some progress yesterday in the “to be blocked knitting basket”. Two more items have been blocked and are now ready to wear or to be gifted.
The 3 S Shawl — love this pattern and may make another. The Sireno yarn it’s made out of is super soft and I have another large hank of it (over 600 yards) so may make a slightly bigger one.
And one of the scarfs I had made a while ago is now finally blocked too. It was made with two sock yarns — one solid looking and the other a Poems Sock yarn that has long color changes.
I’m at least half way through the basket of stuff to be blocked — tho I know there are two largish shawls in there I’ve been procrastinating on blocking but they’ll get their turn soon. I’ve got a crocheted scarf soaking right now to get on the blocking board.
