Off to a good start

First day of my four day weekend and progress was made last night.  I finished the applique on That Wacky Thing Called Love – the February Year of Wallhangings design.  Here it is.

I’m very pleased with how it turned out.  Now I need to search the stash for some backing fabric and get it layered.

Today so far – haven’t gotten to quilting but have done a bit of cleaning, not too much mind you but the kitchen is tidied and the dishwasher loaded.  Then worked in EQ for a while, okay a good long while as I chatted with Mom on the phone.  I needed to come up with a block to submit for consideration to Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks.  It’s done, I love it (but I’m biased) and now to print it off.  Tomorrow after breakfast with a friend, I’ll have to coerce her (which is not hard) to stopping by the  quilt shop to find the perfect fabrics for it and then I can get stitching on it.

After I finished that, I started playing with this simple design that would be a great stashbuster.  It’s sort of controlled scrappy since I used a controlled color pallet and I seldom do total scrappy – hate cutting all those individual pieces – but could be a great way to use those scraps in the scrap drawers or I’m thinking may use some of that batik scrap pile.  Reminds me of stepping stones.
