Today’s plans – now that I’ve puttered away the morning with some knitting, breakfast, etc. is to get a bit of rearranging done. I have a plan that hopefully will have me actually getting on the treadmill and not just dusting it but it needs to come out of my sewing room in order to accomplish that. Which means I have to clear a bit of a path to get it out of there. It’s on wheels when the bottom is tipped up but it’s still heavy and unwieldy to move through the doorways. Luckily the sewing room is in fairly good shape so if I move the iron and slide the table over, I should have a clear path.
It also entails a bit of rearranging of the living room, and that corner needs a bit of work where it’s going because someone has piled up recent yarn purchases over the last couple of weeks, knitting patterns she was pouring through, blocking mats she didn’t put away after the last blocking session and who knows what else.
Speaking of yarn – I showed you the other day the yarns I bought to decide which to use for the leaves in Art Deco. Here are the other yarns that came in that order.
They are just some other German sock yarns I wanted to try. The one in the middle feels thicker than I would personally like for socks (I need to be able to get my shoes on!), so I decided I’d make mittens out of it. I did start on one mitten pattern but decided I didn’t like the pattern I was using so ripped them back and will restart. Plus I want to see if I have/or get metal double points for mitten making. The heavier yarns just don’t want to slide along the wooden needles as easily making it harder on the fingers so metal needles should definitely improve that.
The one on the right – I actually have two balls of but the other one wasn’t to be found when I took the photo this a.m. (probably somewhere in that corner of the living room where all knitting things went to hibernate that I’ll be cleaning out). The one on the right is my favorite colorwise and is actually a bit thinner than some sock yarns I use but I’ll be interested to see how it knits up in socks since all of these are self-striping/self-patterning yarns.
Time to get dressed, get busy, fill up those new plastic storage containers I bought last week with yarn, and wrestle that treadmill to its new location – which counts as exercise in and of itself! Then just maybe I’ll finish clearing off the sewing table and sit down to a bit of stitching!
