Well I did spend a large part of yesterday watching movies. The peach/raspberry (my two favorite fruits) double crisp (like apple crisp except “topping” is on top and on bottom as a crust) turned out delicious. The only think to make it better would have been if I had some vanilla ice cream here but it was pretty darn tasty with a cup of coffee anyway.
My Gray Haven cowl is finished except for the blocking and the end burying. Since I originally planned to make a shawl with the 4th quarter yarn and then ditched that plan and made this cowl instead, I have enough yarn left over for another project. (Plus, I need to weigh the cowl to figure out if I actually used enough yarn to meet the 4th quarter requirements – I didn’t want to make it as tall as the pattern said so I may not have used quite enough yardage in it). Anyway, if this one is too short on the yarn, the second project I started with the leftovers will qualify. It’s another cowl.
Someone asked me if I have coats to go with all the cowls I make. No – but then I don’t think cowls are just to wear when you are outdoors in your winter coat. If my neck is warm, the rest of me is warmer. You know – those annoying drafts in offices or restaurants on the back of your neck — cowls are great for those. So no, I don’t wear them with just with an outdoor coat — I wear them like any fashion scarf to add a pop of color to a blouse or sweater so you can never have too many.
The one I’m working on now with the rest of this yarn is the Boxy Cowl. This is a super easy one — -good for movie watching or a beginner. I did skip the provisional cast on. It was to be used so both bind off edges looked the same. I really don’t care if my cast on edge looks a little different than my bind off – most projects you make they are different and I wasn’t going to putz with it. So moving right along on the Boxy Cowl.
I also played a bit in EQ this morning with a one block tumbler design. I kind of like the more modern looking one with the diagonal color sections.
But time to get off the computer and perhaps find some brunch (peach raspberry crisp???? fruit with cereal – sounds like breakfast to me!) The projects I blocked yesterday should be dry so I can join the ends of that cowl together and add it to my finished list.
