Feather number 7 of Dreambird that is. And it was an unlucky number. I had the feather done and was ready to start doing the background around it — what the heck? One side of my feather was shorter than the other — that should not happen. I must have skipped a few rows – getting overconfident and not crossing off each row on my chart but doing 2 or 3 rows and then crossing them off. Somewhere I screwed up. So ripped it all back out last night and put it in a time out (even if it wasn’t its fault). So tonight I’m happy to report feather 7 has one or two more rows till I’m back where I ripped out from and my feather is looking correct. Whew!
I also made some progress on the bus ride (tho the bus air conditioning was barely working both last night and tonight and it was darn near a sauna on there while I was knitting) on the Elis cowl.
This is a really quick knit. I don’t think I’m making it as tall (neck lengthwise) as the pattern. This ball of yarn is on its last color (the aqua) and I may just finish with that color. I’m going to have to do some measuring. If I want it a bit taller, then I’ll use just the fuchsia off a new ball so it ends the same way it started. Will have to wait and see when I get that far. But I so love the interwoven X like areas.
Speaking of lovely yarns …. we were speaking of them weren’t we…. I have emptied the Box of Fun I got yesterday and here are the goodies. Each one was bought with a specific project in mind — so time will tell if they actually get used for what I initially planned them for.
The green/blue/purple at the top left – I love that color combination and am always a sucker when I see those shades together. It’s called Purple Sage – very apt name – and is JulieSpins. The big ground balls are Schoppel Gradient worsted and I know they will be used to make a larger Quaker. I really want to start on that but I’m not letting myself do that until I finish Elis, and block both the smaller Quaker and That Nice Stitch cowl and get them onto my “finished” list. Or at least that’s what I’ve told myself!
The wine sort of colored on the right is Malabrigo Finito, Chispas colorway. Finito is the same kind of yarn I used for That Nice Stitch cowl and it is softest feeling yarn. It feels soft in the hank but when it’s knit into fabric – then it really feels wonderful. The last two colors are a newer line at The Loopy Ewe – The Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze – the purple is Bejewelled and the tan – well I left it in the other room so I can’t remember what it’s called. Both of them have speckles in them along with the lovely colors and I really liked the way the speckles looked.
So back to that feather…….
