I had bought some yarn back when I was making my first Wingspan which I planned to use for another one – one of those long self striping types. It was sitting in a basket across the room and I was thinking about the project I had used that same type of yarn on before. And trying to remember who ended up with that project….. I couldn’t remember and I couldn’t find a picture of the finished project. That happens sometimes. But today I went to check to see what was left in my “to be blocked” knitting basket. Just the cowl and Quaker shawl I had just finished have to be blocked. There is a cowl I made as a Camp Loopy project – last year I think – that I didn’t really like the way it turned out. So I pulled that out of the to be blocked basket to try to decide if I leave it as is or rip it back and use the yarn for something else.
Lo and behold – there scrunched in the bottom was the project with the long color stripe yarn! I must have accidentally grabbed it along with the stuff I was putting in the blocking basket. I think I started on this late last summer so it’s been MIA for a while without me noticing – but that’s because I think I switched to Socktoberfest sock knitting about the time I had started this.
The pattern is called Elis and it using the Indian Cross Stitch stitch which I just love the look of. I recently came across a shawl that uses that same stitch too which is on my list of things I want to make.
Here’s a closer look at the stitch pattern. This is another of those really easy projects. I just love those projects that the stitches look tricky on but they are so easy to kit. And I like the way the colors are transitioning on this .
