Sad Socks

Yes I have very sad socks – or at least I’m sad over my socks.   I’m about half way done with the foot of the Zigzags and I’ve decided these socks are way to big.  So I think they will go into the “naughty knitting” basket to sit for a while till I feel like deciding if  they need to be totally ripped back or if the leg is okay – but I think the leg is too big too.  I wouldn’t necessarily mind how loose it is  but being looser means more yarn used which means I may  run short on a second sock.

So rather than the four pairs I challenged myself to make in Socktober, I managed to get three done – not bad at all.  Yesterday was the first really chilly, see your breath kind of day so I opened up the wooly sock drawer.

I had found one of those sock divider inserts in a store some where – the only one they had but heck in looking at the drawer, I should be able to easily make my own to perfectly fit the specific drawer so that’s on my list of projects for one of these days.  But isn’t that drawer full of socks a wonderful sight!

Today I don’t know that I’ll accomplish much.  I plan to head back into the sewing room and work on the closet a bit more but yesterday, tho I woke up feeling fine I started having some sinus issues and today I’ve got a sore throat and much nose blowing going on so I may end up sitting in a chair and knitting and napping.

I did find the leaf blocks — there are even more of them than I thought but I haven’t counted them up yet.  And I also pulled out some Halloween blocks.  Some of them have been in that poor swap block box for ages.  Some are from a Halloween swap that was hosted by someone else (those are all 12″ finished blocks I believe) and the others are from a swap I hosted where the blocks could be various sizes.  I did already make one Halloween lap quilt from some of the swap blocks but there’s definitely enough for one or two more or perhaps a lap quilt and a smaller wallhanging.   I’ll have to stick them up on the design wall and decide what to do with them.

One good thing about moving all the fabric off the shelves and them back on the shelves in a different location — so many possibilities come to mind.  I found two fabrics that will go perfectly with a challenge fabric project we’re doing on TQP.  I found the fabric I specifically bought to go with the Halloween swap blocks, and found another fabric I’m considering using for my CTS sashings.

The one thing I did forget about is a whole suitcase full of scraps! well not all scraps because I think there are some stacks of fat quarters underneath.  I had forgotten they were in there.  Hmmm… I’ll think about them some other day because I think that’s where the other Halloween fabrics are hiding – underneath the scraps I’m pretty sure there are Halloween and lots of civil war repro fat quarters.

Maybe some breakfast first…..
