Fabric Enhancement All Around!

Yesterday, just as I was ready to hit publish on a blog post, “connection lost”.  Drat.  So today we’ll see if I can get this posted without incident.  Yes I am finally thinking about upgrading the internet connection even tho it’s a pain to bother with — and not something I specifically want to take off work to deal with so will have to schedule me a quilting day to stay home and have them come at the same time….. something to think on.

Anyway – several people had emailed me asking about the balloon dog fabric for the backing of my Child’s Play quilt.

So here’s the answers to some of the questions.  It’s Timeless Treasures fabric.  Search “timeless treasures balloon animal” and you should be able to find it at several places.  I personally bought it from The Fat Quarter Shop.  It was on sale in a couple places but they didn’t have enough yardage left for what I wanted and I didn’t want to buy from more than one place.

Someone also emailed me asking me if I really wanted to use that fabric on the back –  they thought the pattern of the fabric would look out of place and get “lost” since it was small and my applique blocks on the front of the quilt were rather large and suggested I may want to try a larger print.  Hmmm….. thank you for your unsolicited advice?    That’s all that’s on the back – even if they were small dogs it would look great.  In fact, they are not small - the prior image I posted was perhaps deceiving since there was nothing else in the image and I had resized it smaller than normal and didn’t feel like redoing it.

As you can see with the fabric laying next to my laptop keyboard, these are not tiny little dogs – they are made from those super loooong ballons. :-)   I really wish I had gotten more fabric because I think it would make a really fun shower curtain!  They just make me smile.    Someone else asked about other colors — I also saw it with a black background as I was searching so you may be able to find that too.

Today, a package arrived from Nancy’s Notions and another from Equilter — stashbusting??? what’s that??? LOL

I found a little more of those ladybugs, the frozen treats will be backing for a mini version of Frozen Delights .   I haven’t decided how small I will make the blocks yet.   And check out the crayon fabric — of course that will be used somewhere in connection with Coloring Outside the Lines (the crayon quilt which is partially shown in my blog header.   Just today I came  across the website that has the fabric style I want to use for the rest of that quilt so now I just need to figure out which colors of fabrics I want to use in it.

And here’s what was in the Equilter box…… these fabrics are the music themed fabrics I bought to use for my nephew’s graduation quilt.  There will need to be some more fabrics added but these will the be focal ones I think.

Now back to my Socktober knitting.  I’m about half done with the foot on sock 2 of pair 3 and I’ve got about 4″ or a little more knit on sock 1 of pair 4.  I need to get moving!

Denise, I love the balloon dogs, how much fun to flip over the quilt and see them, it’s such a happy fabric and the colors are great! And the rest of the fabric is just great, stashbusting? what’s that? :) Can’t wait to see them finished, you’ll get around to ounting that yardage soon. :)

    • Watch out ladies. The packers came today and I had 35 plastic tubs of “happiness” to move from AZ to PA. The guys kidded me about it all but I don’t care.

I LOVE the balloon dogs. What cute fabric! ‘Course I like all the other fabrics you received too. Stashbusting…hhmmmm…do I have to?

  7. I love getting fabric in the mail. It’s the perfect mail day. :)
Yesterday the mail lady brought me a package with 22 yards of happiness. Nothing has cute and happy as yours…maybe I should shop a little bit more. :)
Personally, I love flipping over a quilt and seeing a super fun back!

LOL – I ordered even more “happiness” yesterday and today for the crayon quilt. That should keep me “happy” for a good long time.
